Our Story
Robert & Lisa - Our Griffon Story
Supreme Point Kennels is owned and operated by Robert Miller and Dr. Lisa Boyer. We are AKC Breeders of Merit and participate in the AKC Bred With Heart program which means that we are committed to producing a healthy, well socialized and properly structured Wirehaired Pointing Griffon with exceptional hunting abilities.

Robert is an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He brings over 20 years of experience in hunting both upland and waterfowl.  He is instrumental in our puppy socialization program, breeding selection and introduces all of our puppies to water and birds at the appropriate time.  His gentle touch combined with his field experience ensure our dogs are cooperative hunters who are driven on land and in the water.  Robert is currently employed by the American Kennel Club as a Legislative Analyst and Community Outreach Coordinator and is instrumental in protecting Dog Owner's and Sportsman's rights.

Lisa is a veterinarian who has extensive experience in evaluating and treating sporting dogs.  She has a strong interest in reproductive medicine as well as emergency medicine.  Lisa has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the AKC Parent Club (AWPGA) and as the American Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Association AKC Delegate.  She works closely with the AKC to support the preservation of the breed.  She is involved with the AKC Canine Health Foundation and was insturmental in procuring a grant to study neurologic disease in sporting dogs. She teaches, consults and writes articles for several sporting dog publications.  She is also a content writer for the internet and publications for the AKC Canine Health Foundation.

We have owned and trained Labrador Retrievers for many years.  When our beloved Labs could no longer hunt, they began to look at a more versatile gun dog that would be not only an excellent hunting partner, but a wonderful family member.  After much research and thought, we imported our foundation bitch, CH Griffondor Trey, from Canada. We focused Trey’s first 18 months on socialization and gun dog training.  She was exposed to birds early on and her natural affinity for hunting was readily apparent. Her cooperative nature and drive allowed for her training to progress quickly. She is an impeccable hunter – steady to wing, shot, fall and retrieves beautifully to hand. She works well alone or with other dogs in the field.

As a young adult, we were approached about pursuing Trey’s Championship title as she developed into an exceptional dog. They were not “dog show people”, but decided to allow her to be shown. She earned her Champion title in just three shows, earning 2 major wins and a Group III placement in her first weekend.

In 2009, she earned the Best of Opposite Sex at the Eukanuba National Championships and was one of the top Wirehaired Pointing Griffons in the country. As we ventured further with the American Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Association (AWPGA), North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA), and the American Kennel Club (AKC) organizations, our concept for Supreme Point Kennels was born.

Our goal is to produce Wirehaired Pointing Griffons that have exceptional health, sound temperament and superb hunting abilities. Although most of our dogs are place in hunting homes, a few puppies from each litter may be selected for non-hunting placement. Let us help you find your next best friend as Griffs are a versatile breed and can be happy in a variety of environments.

Here at Supreme Point Kennels, we pride ourselves on ensuring our puppies are well adjusted and socialized. The puppies are not raised in a kennel, but in our home. They are exposed to regular household noises and routines and are handled by family members and friends daily.  The puppies are raised with small dogs, cats and children. This extensive socialization results in dogs that are imprinted early on by human hands and will later seek out attention and praise from their owners.  Their desire to please is then is used in training. Our dogs are exposed to birds starting at 3 to 4 weeks of age, water starting at 5 weeks of age and have ridden crated in cars at 6-8 weeks of age. We conduct temperament and health testing of all of our puppies to ensure we appropriately match our puppies to their new families.
